Entry Milestones:

  • Language: Conversational speech is able to speak in sentences (3-5 words or more), correctly use of words such as “I”, “You”, “Me”, etc., understanding two- step directions.
  • Gross motor skills: run, jump, gallop
  • Fine motor skills: using utensils, holding writing and coloring tools, stacking, etc.
  • Self-help: Getting dresses, opening (lunch) items without assistance, putting away belongings, etc.
  • Social-emotional skills: peer-to-peer interaction, sharing, showing and understanding emotions.
  • Child needs to be fully potty trained and able to change independently in case of an accident.

Skills we look to master:

  • Problem solving, understanding differences and/or similarities and sorting objects, following three-step directions, completing seven or more-piece puzzles (cognitive development)
  • Enhance social-emotional development (peer-to-peer interactions, taking turns, etc.)
  • identifying shapes & common colors, counting numbers 1-30, identifying number 1-10, sorting by (color, shape, size, etc), reciting the alphabet in full & being able to identify letters
  • Fine motor skills: connecting manipulatives (ex: table Legos)
  • Problem solving/self-help continued: putting away personal belongings, making and undressing nap time bed, opening lunch time items (with minimal assistance), figuring out their own needs.

Classroom supply list:

  • Personal sheet and blanket for nap time (sheet size: twin bed/ please refrain from bringing in blankets that are too big)
  • Box of crayons or markers (pencil boxes will be provided)
  • Water bottle for daily use
  • 2-3 changes of clothes (to remain at school in their hallway bag/ please be sure they are season and or weather appropriate)
