
Ocean Room: Mrs. Karin
Mrs. Karin has been teaching at LSLC-CDC for 22 years and has been in education for 30 years. Mrs. Karin’s favorite thing about teaching is being able to watch them grow and learn and her favorite childhood books were Jack London books. We asked Mrs. Karin what about teaching gives her “goosebumps”, “Seeing the children transition to older rooms but still staying in contact.”. Mrs. Karin believes the most important thing about raising/teaching our littles is knowing that they are getting the best care possible.

Mother Goose: Ms. Aisha
Ms. Aisha has been teaching at LSLC-CDC for three years and has been in education for four years, Ms. Aisha has a background in Biology and graduated from USC Aiken in 2019. Ms. Aisha’s favorite thing about teaching is watching a child display a skill that you’ve worked with them on! Ms. Aisha’s favorite childhood book is No, David! By David Shannon. We asked Ms. Aisha what about teaching gives her “goosebumps”, “Writing lesson plans and trying to visualize how each child will respond to them!”. Ms. Aisha believes the most important thing about raising/teaching our kiddos is keeping a calm attitude, and being consistent about expectations leads to easier classroom management, happier children, and more success when it comes to providing quality care and education!

Forest Friends: Ms. Emmalee
Ms. Emmalee started teaching at LSLC-CDC in August of this year and has been in the education field for four years. Ms. Emmalee also has her bachelor’s in early childcare and education from Winthrop University. One of Ms. Emmalee’s favorite aspects of teaching is the self-reflection that comes along with it. From questions she asks herself at the end of the day such as, “how could she have done that differently” or “was that a missed teaching moment”. To the self-reflection she is teaching your little ones like “are you proud of yourself?” or “how do you feel”. This helps us be our best selves, not only for us but each other as well. Ms. Emmalee’s favorite childhood book is Chrysanthemum; she has loved this book since she was little. She loves the theme as it shines a light on loving every aspect of yourself (including your name). We asked Ms. Emmalee what about teaching gives her “goosebumps”, “watching one of my kiddos doing something by themselves for the first time. From holding their hand and assisting in little tasks to watching them hit that “aha” moment, the excitement that fills the room is like no other.” Ms. Emmalee believes one of the most important aspects of teaching little ones is remembering that we need to live in there here and now. Little minds learn from doing and making mistakes. Sometimes it’s okay to sit back and watch for a moment.

Backyard Buddies: Ms. Tianna
Ms. Tianna has been working at LSLC-CDC for six years and has been in education for eight years. Ms. Tianna’s favorite thing about teaching is that every day she gets a chance to inspire her kids, help someone learn and grow. Being here at LSLC-CDC she also has the opportunity to God’s love to all of her students. Some of Ms. Tianna’s favorite childhood books consist of Chicka- Chicka- Boom- Boom, any Dr. Seuss book and Corduroy. We asked Ms. Tianna what about teaching gives her “goosebumps”, “Watching children learn to do the things that they once weren’t able to do such as Using language, completing puzzles, activities, etc. I also love watching them coming out of their shell and gaining confidence. Ms. Tianna believes the most important thing about raising/teaching our kiddos is understanding that this child will be a future adult; what you are teaching this child today will affect things down the road. We want to create a child that will turn into an emotionally intelligent and accountable being later in life.

Rainforest: Ms. Azaria
Ms. Azaria has been teaching at LSLC-CDC for one year and it has been her first year in education! Ms. Azaria’s favorite thing about teaching is seeing the different personalities that each student carries. Getting to know them, being able to help make a difference, and knowing that each day is going to be a new memory. Ms. Azaria’s favorite childhood books are the “Cam Jansen” series and Eric Carle’s “Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see?”. We asked Ms. Azaria what about teaching gives her “goosebumps”, “After a busy day of moving and learning they call my name and can still piece together the material we learned that day with a smile on their face. Or when they run at me with the biggest smiles ready for a hug!”. Ms. Azaria believes the most important thing about raising/teaching our littles is hoping that she builds a strong and positive relationship with them so that they feel confident to be themselves with others along the way. I hope they pick up on the little lessons, like sharing, hearing each other’s words, and respect so it can become a good habit.

Jumping Jungle: Mrs. Tanyua
Mrs. Tanyua has been teaching at LSLC-CDC for 21 years and has been in education for around 40 years. Mrs. Tanyua’s favorite thing about teaching is that she has the opportunity to see and contribute to a child’s growth and to be able to give them different experiences for the first time. Mrs. Tanyua’s favorite childhood book is Corduroy by Dan Freeman. We asked Mrs. Tanyua what about teaching gives her “goosebumps”, “Being able to give them knowledge and different experiences of learning. Mrs. Tanyua believes that the most important thing about raising/ teaching our kiddos is that she is teaching them some of the tools that they will need to be the best little people that they can be by teaching them; self-confidence, compassion, trust, problem solving, love and God.

Farm Friends: Ms. Daneequa
Ms. Daneequa has been teaching at LSLC-CDC for eight years and has been in education 15 years. Ms. Daneequa’s favorite thing about teaching is watching children grow as they absorb new knowledge and gain independence. Ms. Daneequa’s favorite childhood book is Coduroy by Dan Freeman. We asked Ms. Daneequa what about teaching gives her “goosebumps”, “Those moments when a child just reaffirms what you have thought without being prompted especially in a social- emotional aspect. Ms. Daneequa believes the most important thing about raising/ teaching our kiddos is helping to raise competent and kind individuals. Instilling a strong foundation based on “Change lives, change the world.”.

After School Care/ Summer Camp: Ms. Charlotte
Ms. Charlotte has been teaching at LSLC-CDC for four years and has been in education for approximately 10 years. Ms. Charlottes favorite thing about teaching is the positive influence that she can have on a child’s life and making sure each child knows that God and Jesus love them. Ms. Charlotte’s favorite childhood book is the Winnie the Pooh Series by A. A. Milne. We asked Ms. Charlotte what about teaching gives her “goosebumps”, “When a child comes up to you and says I Love You Ms. Charlotte!”. Ms. Charlotte believes the most important thing about raising/ teaching our kiddos is how to get a long and treat each other with respect.

Support Staff: Ms. Bernadette
Ms. Bernadette has been teaching at LSLC-CDC for eight months and has been in education for 18 years. Ms. Bernadette’s favorite thing about teaching is teaching students to read, she loves the progress of a child who could barely read sight words, start to read simple sentences. Ms. Bernadettes favorite childhood book was the Frog and Toad series by Arnold Lobel. We asked Ms. Bernadette what about teaching gives her “goosebumps”, “Seeing a child light up as they understand the story they are reading.”. Ms. Bernadette believes the most important thing about raising/teaching our kiddos is that you are able to be a part of that child’s village, to help nurture and mold them into a person of the future.

Support Staff: Ms. Allyssa
Ms. Allyssa has been teaching at LSLC-CDC for a little over six months and has been in education for four years. Ms. Allyssa’s favorite thing about teaching is getting the opportunity to learn and work with all of the different age groups. Ms. Allyssa’s favorite childhood book was “The very hungry caterpillar” by Eric Carle. We asked Ms. Allyssa what about teaching gives her “goosebumps”, “Watching my students grow into their own person.”. Ms. Allyssa believes the most important thing about raising/teaching our littles is knowing that educators have a huge impact on them in their developmental stages.

Support Staff: Ms. Kaedance
Ms. Kaedance has been teaching LSLC-CDC for 5 months and has been in the education field for three years. Ms. Kaedance’s favorite thing about teaching is that she loves watching children find their personality. Being able to provide the foundation that’s needed to help them live a purposeful life is truly a gift. Ms. Kaedance’s favorite childhood book is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. We asked Ms. Kaedance what about teaching gives her “goosebumps”, “When children go from not knowing you to being able to recognize you, especially when they know your name. They’re so intelligent.”. Ms. Kaedance believes the most important thing about raising/teaching our kiddos is helping them become capable. Capable of asking for help, trying new foods, praying, and being kind. They don’t know what they can achieve until they get a chance to try.
